Teen book clubs in grades 6 - 12 can be a challenge to create, maintain and grow. Let us share our stories of taking a book club of a handful of students and turning it into a thriving book-loving group of 40 or more teens who made relationships, discovered shared interests, improved their social skills and found a place to belong in our large suburban middle and high schools. We do the work of planning, gathering ideas and making materials. The students learn about each other, read new genres of their choosing, improve their social skills and learn how to reach out to the rest of the student body through books and literacy. You'll leave with a list of practical ideas for activities you can implement to start your own UN-Book Club for teens.
