Tracy has researched and written more than 100 books for children and young adults. Her picture-book biography, John Deere, That's Who! (Henry Holt, 2017), was named a Junior Library Guild Selection, received recognition as an outstanding STEM book from the National Science Teachers Association and was nominated for this year's Star of the North Award; and another picture-book biography, Noah Webster’s Fighting Words (Millbrook Press, 2017), has received starred reviews. Her newest book is Samuel Morse, That's Who! (Henry Holt, 2019), and it has been named a Junior Library Guild Selection. Tracy’s picture book, Storm Codes, won the Northeastern Minnesota Book Award Children’s Literature Honor in addition to other recognition. She holds an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Hamline University.
